A heads-up about the second Parisot Literary Festival/Festival Littéraire de Parisot, which will take place this year from 10^th to 12^th October. Parisot is only a small place with about 500 inhabitants but there’s a lot going on. This event is rapidly becoming an established highlight in the calendar.

As last year, this is an Anglo-French event with six French and six Anglophone authors (amongst whom yours truly). The festival features author talks and readings, a calligraphy workshop, a memoir writing workshop, a cookery demonstration by Robin Ellis (of Poldark TV series fame, who now lives in the Tarn) and a dinner with the authors. World War I, in its 100^th anniversary year, is one of the themes of the festival.

There’s also a sale of second-hand books (French and English) alongside the sale of books by authors appearing at the festival.

Most of the authors either live in or have some connection with SW France. All the events are free, except for the dinner with the authors on Saturday 11^th October, for which prior reservation is essential. No booking is needed for the sessions, except for the two workshops.

In 2013, I was on the organising committee. This year, I’ve crossed the Rubicon and will be presenting my novel The House at Zaronza, which was published in July. The novel is set in early 20^th century Corsica and at the Western Front during World War I. I will discuss the inspiration behind it and the research I did in order to portray rural life in Corsica at that time and nursing during World War I.

The House at Zaronza was reissued in 2018 by Ocelot Press with a new cover and minor editorial changes. Available in all Amazon stores in Kindle and paperback formats.
